Let me start by admitting...

Let me start by admitting that this pen is not a must have. It writes well, but a cheap bic pen or even the free one from a hotel can write with an equally good result. I believe this pen is overpriced, but to the best of my knowledge there is no cheaper alternative in the market.

I was on the defensive about it for a while. I bought the brass pencil years ago, then I got the fountain pen. Never thought I would be interested in the ballpoint pen.

I write with fountain pens most of the time, but there are scenarios in my life when a ballpoint pen comes in handy. For example, when I need to highlight quickly, or when the paper isn’t fountain pen friendly.

Looking back I realized that I must have conformed to the stereotypical image of underestimating the worth of a good ballpoint pen in the world of stationery. These pens require little work to keep in good condition, and they usually write smoothly. Now I'm learning to appreciate these advantages more.

This particular pen has the pleasing aesthetic that attracts me the most. Seriously, of all the ballpoint pens sold on Jetpens.com, I only like this one. The point is that a beautiful pen can really make my tedious work feel a bit special. Then the price is justified when I know I will be using it daily.

So that's my two cents.

I love brass pens. This one has a wooden grip section. It smells like you stuck your face in a whole box of wooden number 2 pencils. It reminds me quite a lot of elementary school. Otherwise, it is a great pen to slip into a wallet, and the brass shell should be quite durable.

Great I love it. Maybe should have gotten a space pen but whatever tgis prolly feels nicer to write with than a space pen since this has low viscosity ink (in my experience) so you need very little pressure. Also shades beautifully and reminds me of a pencil since you can get a lot of shade variation dependeing on hand pressure. Overall happy.
Pilot Hi tec refills, uni slim refills fit . so that's really nice. I mostly stick to ball point since its easier to control when youre riding im a car or need to just get something down thats legible which is why I got it.

Very fine point Ball point that was much smoother than expected. Also thinner and lighter than the Fountain pen version. A cool edition to add to the collection.

I actually only bought this to swap out the cap with the pencil so my fountain pen, rollerball, pencil set would all match. Then I wrote with the pen. I *hate* ballpoints, but I love this one. It's wonderfully smooth and crisp without needing the hand-cramping pressure of most ballpoints. Guess now I have to pick up a spare for my cap-swapping needs...

A good pen, but not for me

I like the idea of a pocketable brass fountain pen. I've had my eye on the brass Kaweco Sport, since I have plastic Sport pens that I like a lot. Then I noticed that Traveler's Co. makes their own brass fountain pen, and it's less expensive than Kaweco. Intrigued, I decided to pick up the Traveler's Co. brass ballpoint first--it's a lot cheaper than the fountain pen, and if I liked it, I figured I'd like the fountain pen, too.

It is a nice looking pen, and is very small. The line is nice--Japanese pen companies really like making fine-point ballpoints, and I appreciate that. I was surprised to learn that the grip is wood--it's not that noticeable in the photos, and only mentioned in the specs, not descrip. Every time I remove the cap, it smells like a pencil!

What doesn't do much for me is using it. The grip area is pretty thin, thinner than the Kaweco. I prefer a little more fatness in the grip. And because the metal is mostly away from the ballpoint end, the pen feels a bit top heavy when writing.

I'll still keep this pen, because it's classy and writes well. It's really nice to have a good looking ballpoint, esp. since I use ballpoints infrequently. But I doubt I'll get the fountain version of this.
